How to Reset Google Chrome for adware issues

Problem

When we surf using google chrome you get a lot of pop ups and other advertising happening.  This happens even when there should not be any advertising.

This is commonly caused by adware on your machine.

Adware is a piece of software that is downloaded alongside another piece of software you may have willingly or unknowingly downloaded and installed.
These generally can be avoided by downloading from a manufacturer website.  also by checking what tick boxes are checked during your downloads.

In this fix we detail for Google chrome browser but this also applies to other browsers.

Solution

It is best to try and uninstall these adwares as soon as possible as they will often start to pester you with pop ups no matter what you do to buy products or direct you to websites  to purchase something you may not want and this can result in problems during normal internet usage.

As a way to fix the browser you can simply reset the browser.

The manual method follows:

1. Press the windows key

2. type CMD

3. Hold CTRL and SHIFT and press enter.

4. Click “Yes”

6. Type: Attrib -R C:Users%UserName%AppDataLocalGoogleChrome

7. Press Enter

8. Type: RD C:Users%UserName%AppDataLocalGoogleChrome /Q /S

9. Press Enter.

%UserName% = login username of your computer.

This will remove the user settings and history and reset Chrome to defaults.

WARNING:  This will reset your browsers information.

After I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any means you may remove me from that service? Thanks!

I’m not sure exactly why but this site is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.

Hey! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could get a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems finding one? Thanks a lot!
